报告题目:格子Boltzmann方法在癌症研究领域的探索与应用

报告摘要

The most deadly aspect of cancer is its ability to metastasize to another location from where it starts. The tumor cells adhesion to the micro-vessel wall in microcirculation is a critical step in cancer metastasis. Previous studies have indicated that the tumor cells prefer to aggregate near the bent of curved and bifurcated micro-vessels, and the complex forces at the micro-vascular curvatures and branches appear to render these sites prone to metastasis of tumor cells. However, the precise mechanism of this phenomenon is not yet clearly understood. In this talk, the lattice Boltzmann method and the stochastic Monte Carlo method are adopted to investigate the mechanical mechanisms of tumor cells adhesion in microcirculation, and to find the quantitative relationship between complex forces and tumor cells adhesion in the curved and bifurcated micro-vessels. The numerical results may eventually provide a rational basis for the development of novel therapeutic strategies to combat cancer. Moreover, the computational results will enlarge the application space of lattice Boltzmann simulations in cancer research area.

 

专家简介

严微微,女,博士,现任中国计量学院计量测试工程学院副教授,硕士生导师。2007年于浙江师范大学物理系获得硕士学位。2011年于香港理工大学机械工程系获得博士学位。2012年于香港理工大学机械工程系从事博士后研究。研究兴趣主要集中在“格子Boltzmann方法的理论及其应用”。在“Bioresource Technology (IF=4.98)”,“Biomechanics & Modeling in Mechanobiology (IF=3.17)”,“J. Chemical Technology & Biotechnology (IF=2.17)”,“J. Biomechanics (IF=2.66)”等国内外重要刊物发表学术论文近20篇。主持1项国家自然科学基金青年项目,参与多项国家自然科学基金面上项目。
